That's why we started producing our own octopus fabrics!
🤩 About a year and a half ago, we decided to develop our own fabric creation for children. We now have four different designs (forest bustle, dinosaur party, octopus, and sea creatures)!
Our motivation back then was that there were virtually no patterned fabrics made of stretch cotton that were processed without elastane . So, no patterned fabrics without plastic! 🙈
We wanted to change that, so we spent a long time looking for the right (and available) fabric, as well as a printing company in Germany that uses inks we would recommend without hesitation for children's skin. 🧡
As always, we had high standards for the fabric! The fabric had to be stretchy and made of 100% cotton. It had to be subject to the highest fair and ecological certifications, both in terms of cotton cultivation and processing, and had to have short delivery routes. So, ideally, it had to come from Europe. ✅
No sooner said than done! Together with Biostoffe_Berlin, we implemented this mammoth project!
The result is an organic interlock fabric* printed with a modern digital printing process** using organic inks. 🙏
*Interlock fabric is created by knitting two fabrics together. Typically, cotton, wool, spandex, and polyester are used. The interlocking of the two fabrics makes the fabric reversible. Both sides of the fabric are also smooth. It's a type of double-knit fabric that's thicker and more absorbent than regular knit fabric.
**Digital printing is one of the most sustainable methods for printing fabrics. It uses less water and energy than traditional methods and requires no harsh chemicals. Digitally printed fabrics are also easier to recycle than traditional fabrics.
