Talking to children about boundaries and feelings

"It makes me really happy to see that educationally valuable books can also be fun. The authors have managed to package topics like crossing boundaries into entertaining and funny short stories. An absolutely successful book that not only makes room for diverse children, but also for their feelings." (Britta Kiwit, @avalino.diversity)

You know that feeling? You're having fun with your family, with friends' children, or even just by yourself – and suddenly someone else does something that doesn't feel right. The children in this book feel the same way. Tuyeni, for example, is busy organizing her cousin's birthday party when a strange woman simply grabs her hair without asking. Malina wants to bring her mother ice cream when her wheelchair is suddenly held back. And Jan's parents don't believe he can build his stilt house.

In this book, daycare children can enjoy the beautiful moments with loved ones. What happens to them can also spark conversations between the adults reading aloud and the listeners. There are prompt questions for children to help them contextualize the situations described, and information and tips from a child psychotherapist for parents or caregivers are provided. The book focuses on the children's feelings, explores respect in dealing with others, and addresses the individual, personal boundaries of each person.

This read-aloud book presents the difficult topic of aggression in a playful and empathetic way for children. Supported by prompt questions and information boxes, parents and other readers can easily address the topic of boundaries and empower children.

  • packages conversation topics into micro-everyday adventures
  • addresses adultism: children's boundaries must be respected
  • encourages very different children to become aware of their feelings and rights
  • with stimulus questions, hints and tips for children and adults

FAQ

How do I properly care for cotton clothing?

We recommend washing the octopus sweater inside out at 30 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 800 rpm in a washing machine or by hand. It should not be tumble dried. After drying, the sweater can be ironed on a medium heat setting.

Where do your materials come from?

Our kids' sweaters: Our kids' sweaters are mostly made from secondhand, leftover, and surplus fabrics. We want to use what's already available in the world as much as possible. Of course, we pay attention to quality when purchasing the fabrics.

Newly purchased fabrics: The fabrics we purchase are manufactured exclusively in Europe, are made of 100% cotton (organic) and are subject to the highest ecological and social standards.

Where do you make your clothes?

Our clothing is manufactured exclusively locally in Berlin or in partner workshops in Germany. Through our work, we raise awareness for local sewing crafts and contribute to preserving the craft.

Can I pick up my order locally?

Sure! Our workshop is located in Berlin Kreuzberg. You can simply choose the "local pickup" option later during checkout, saving you the shipping costs.
